Making A Difference Through Social Accountability
At Neo Cremations we care deeply about our impact on the earth. We believe it is a company’s responsibility to address social and environmental issues and do what they can to help. In order to continue our efforts to have a positive impact on the planet, we have partnered with a number of social and environmental initiatives.
Listed below you can read about the inspiring organisations we are partnered with, and learn more about the important work they do.
1% For The Planet
1% for the Planet creates a way that every day, every person has the opportunity to make a difference. Anyone can join and donate 1% of their salary to a number of approved nonprofits via monetary donations and/or volunteer support. Thier mission is to build, support and activate an alliance of businesses committed to creating a healthy planet.
We’ve pledged 1% of our company revenue to go towards environmental non-profits. Collectively, these non-profits amount to a more powerful source of solving the world’s environmental problems. You can learn more about their organisation in their recent video, ‘A Growing Global Movement’
UN Climate Change: Climate Neutral Now
The United Nations Climate Change initiative, together with partners, is working to help accelerate climate action and assist countries in limiting climate change and to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. From renewable energy to food security, to jobs and safe water, the UN is promoting a more sustainable and prosperous world for everyone.
Climate Neutral Now is a commitment to limiting the number of greenhouse gases emitted by human activity to the levels that trees, soil and oceans can absorb naturally.
Neo Cremations share the mutual goal of helping the world achieve carbon neutrality by the mid-century and as a result, have pledged to measure and reduce our carbon footprint.
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
We’ve just received our Pending B Corp status in August, and over the next few months we will be working directly with B Corp to ensure we are measuring our environmental and social impact.
London Living Wage
London Living Wage is an organisation at the heart of the independent movement of businesses and people that campaign for the idea that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. They celebrate and recognise the leadership of responsible employers who choose to go further and pay a real Living Wage based on the cost of living, not just the government minimum.
We are an accredited London Living Wage employer, and we believe our staff deserve a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work. We make sure all of our employees in London receive the London Living Wage.
The Natural Death Centre
For the last 25 years The Natural Death Centre has sought to inform, empower and inspire the public in all matters relating to death and dying, and in particular to increase awareness of funeral choices outside of the mainstream.
Neo Cremations share the mutual goal of creating awareness about natural alternatives for traditional funerals.
Association of Green Funeral Directors
The AGFD is a non-profit making organisation aiming to bring natural eco-friendly funerals like Neo Cremations into the mainstream. The essence of a natural funeral is simplicity, that rejects the idea of the traditional style funeral in favour of something more natural, environmentally friendly and affordable.
National Funeral Directors Association
Neo Cremations is an NFDA member that belongs to the largest network of funeral service professionals in the world, which provides critical information, innovative tools and resources. This allows us to be part of a professional community that serve families, run a sustainable business and become pillars of communities.
The aim of the Fair Funerals pledge is to encourage funeral directors across the UK to address the national funeral poverty crisis from within the funeral industry itself. By signing the pledge, funeral directors are recognising that funerals can be expensive and many people struggle with the cost. In doing so they are also making a voluntary commitment to be open about their most affordable options and to help people find funerals within their means.
We have signed a pledge to encourage funeral directors across the UK to address the national funeral poverty crisis. We’ve put price transparency at the centre of our work and we’ve also taken part in funeral poverty seminars with the Quaker Social Action social organisation.
