Our Virtual Celebration Of Life Ceremonies
What is a virtual Celebration of Life Ceremony?
Here at Neo we pride ourselves on providing an affordable, compassionate and sustainable service that is designed to be as simple and straightforward as possible for the families we help. However, this does not mean it can’t be sentimental and special for the loved ones making the arrangements. Many of the families we work with prefer to hold a ceremony amongst close family members and friends after the cremation has taken place, however, with the recent covid-19 restrictions this has become more difficult for many. Our solution is to provide a personalised virtual ceremony that can be held with family members from all over the world from the comfort and intimacy of their own homes.
A virtual celebration of life ceremony is as the name suggests, a celebration of the life of the person who has passed away held on a virtual video platform (such as zoom).
What is included in the virtual Celebration of Life Ceremony?
At Neo we take a flexible approach to each family’s needs, and are happy to adjust the structure of the ceremony as the loved ones require. We will host the ceremony and set up the event on the chosen platform on behalf of the family.
Below we detail what Neo will provide:
- Neo will host and set up the event.
- We will plan the service alongside the family and guide them on what they might want.
- Our team will create a personalised memorial video/presentation for the family (this can be personalised with the loved one’s favourite colours, music and photographs).
- We will create all the assets for the family members such as invites and orders of service.
- We can also record the ceremony and send it to the family so they can view it in years to come.
Our virtual memorial ceremonies tend to last 15 – 30 minutes and take the following structure:
- The Neo team will open the ceremony and welcome the family and friends.
- We then invite one family member to say a few words or prepare a eulogy of the person who has passed away.
- We show a memorial video.
- There will potentially be a reading from a family member.
- Those present will partake in a moment of reflection.
- Neo will close the ceremony.
- Family members are invited to say any final words.
Why Choose a Virtual Celebration of Life Ceremony?
We are able to tailor the experience to fit the individual who has passed away and make the entire experience personalised to them. For example, all the media can be created to fit the individual’s favourite colours and their favourite songs can be included in the memorial video.
In this modern age people tend to travel and live in many different areas rather than staying in one place their entire lives. Many of the families we work with have loved ones who live across the world. Others have older people that struggle to travel long distances. A virtual memorial creates a space where loved ones can come together from far and wide.
With the recent restrictions put on traditional funerals due to the covid-19 pandemic, many are having to make difficult decisions about who they can and cannot invite to attend the ceremonies. A Neo, virtual Ceremony of Life has no limit at all on how many people can attend and no restrictions for family members to have to abide by.
Our virtual memorial ceremonies cost £100, which is a fraction of the cost of a traditional funeral and a superb option for those looking for closure and sentimentality a funeral can provide for a fraction of the cost.
A virtual memorial is far more environmentally friendly than a traditional funeral. As there is no travelling involved, there are no emissions created from this part of the process.
What Our Clients Say
We recently had the honour of hosting a Star Wars-themed celebration of life ceremony for one of our clients here is what the family had to say about their experience:
“We had a complicated setup. My daughter died following surgery, more than 400 miles away from home. Our family are scattered not only across the UK, but also across the world. We have people from different religions and none, and decided that no 'traditional' funeral could cater for everyone. I started looking into direct cremation as a way that would be equal for all. No matter where in the world anyone was they wouldn't feel excluded (and we were still in rigid Covid19 restrictions on travel which further complicated things).”
“There was no 'one size fits all off the peg' funeral. Neo were prepared to be as flexible and accommodating as we needed. I was kept informed right through the process, and Neo helped us to plan and present on Zoom a celebration of her life.”
